Hello Everyone! I hope your week is off to a great start. Holiday season is officially in full effect. Can you believe Christmas is less than three weeks away?!
This past weekend was spent running around like a crazy lady which, in other terms, meant I was decorating our place. 😛 I think I’ve mentioned before that my husband and I live in a one-bedroom apartment. Since we have a small place I like to keep our decorations simple. I like to use a mix of old and new when it comes to decorating, which includes, but is not limited to…DIY, thrift store finds, old decorations from previous years, dollar store finds, other store finds and anything else in between!
It took me awhile to come up with a theme this year. Last year I went for a French Christmas and this year I wanted to do something a little different. I guess you can call it “Cozy Cabin Vibe” or something along those lines.
Here’s our little Christmas corner via my Instagram post. :)
Shout out to my husband who made the cranberry and popcorn garlands! I love the look of them and they add to the rustic feel. Just FYI, these babies take time. So be patient or break it up into increments. My husband recommended inviting some friends over for wine next year and having them help with this…hmm…what do you think about that?
The stag’s head was a Joann’s purchase (with a coupon!). It was brown paper mâché which I wasn’t loving. I had the brass spray paint on hand and thought it was the perfect choice. I LOVE how it turned out.
Also one of my faves is the Joyeux Noel sign. I found this last year at Home Goods (hence the French Christmas theme!). And the little wooden Christmas tree is from the dollar bins at Target. Woo hoo!
A tree just isn’t complete without a tree topper. I bought this star at an estate sale a few years ago. We love it. It adds the perfect touch.
The trunks were gifted to us by my husband’s boss. They belonged to her great-grandpa and we’re pretty sure they’re circa late 1800’s. Pretty cool huh?
I found these pillows at Target (on sale!) and thought they would be the perfect addition.
On to the bar cart. I grabbed a few pieces from around the house and that was it!
Another Target dollar bin find – these adorable Christmas coasters. I couldn’t resist. Don’t you just love that section?
Our friends gave us this card last year and with a little cutting and gluing it became a piece of art. Gotta love DIY. :)
Here are a few more Christmas touches…
Overall, I’m so happy with how our place came together.
I still have more decorating to do but our living room is complete. I hope this post inspires you to decorate for the holidays! Have fun and be creative!
